We all know about the economic tsunami that the world is going through – but that doesn’t mean you should put your decorating dreams on hold. In fact, say many New York interior designers, this may be the best time to decorate. Contractors and antique dealers are both very negotiable. After talking to many New York interior designers, I get the feeling that this is definitely the time to take advantage of the moment.
If you’ve been waiting to do your kitchen, baths, floors or get a great paint job or new upholstery, you should move now. As the New York interior designers always point out, what runs up the cost of decorating in New York is the hand labor – and right now, custom workshops and high end cabinet makers are looking for business. Don’t think it will be cheaper if you wait. I believe that a year from now, workrooms will either be busier or out of business. Talk to your interior designer and figure out what are the best buys and bless your timing.
