Many of New York’s top interior designers aren’t from New York – or even the United States! They’re from South America, Europe and Asia. Some of my favorite designers are Latinos – like Juan Montoya, Sam Botero and Arthur Casas.
The International Flavor of the New York design scene came to mind last night at the Museum of Modern Art party and opening for Brazilian works to be included in their shop. Arthur Casas, who is a top designer in Brazil as well as New York, designed titanium tableware that’s really great looking and perfect for MOMA: clean, original and classic.
The fabulous New York and French interior designer Paul Mathieu has just signed a licensing contract with Holly Hunt to show his gorgeous chairs. Paul is also showing his furniture at Ralph Pucci and his rugs through Odegard. In fact, that leads into a nice story:
While he was in India supervising production for Odegard’s rugs, he bought a house which he has been fixing up; it’s taken three or four years and it’s finally finished and will be shown shortly in World of Interiors. Be sure to pick up a copy.
